Before The Beginning
So, here’s the “Before Genesis 1:1” picture as I put it together from my reading and study of the Bible . . .
God, Jesus & The Holy Spirit, being the very essence and definition of Love, sat around and talked about creating people to Love.
They decided that they would create us with free will, or the ability to choose to live our lives the way God designed for us or not.
Jesus said, “I have come that you might have an abundant (Great) life” (Jn 10:10)
Then Someone said, “Wait a minute . . . if they have free will they can choose to do things that look good now, but will actually turn out bad and be hurtful in the end and hurtful to our relationship with them . . .
Someone else said, “Yeah, and if there is good for them to choose, there must be bad too, or there will be no such thing as free will or choice. This opens up the possibility of evil.”
Then God, who is outside of time- ’cause He created it, looked and saw that everyone chose to do bad things (Sin) and He said, “Houston, we have a problem . . .”
I could force them all to do good, but then when they ‘choose’ to follow the good I have laid out for them and have a relationship with Me it wouldn’t be real . . .
It would be like creating a robot that said “I love you” or a relationship where your partner HAD to kiss you whenever you wanted them to, it wouldn’t mean much.
They pondered over the solution for a few millennium and Jesus said, “I’ve got it!”
“I’ll show them love to the fullest by serving them and then, I’ll take their sin on myself and pay their penalty of death.”
“Then, no matter how bad they are, they can stand pure before Us.”
A tear formed n God’s eye and He said, “Son, you know what that means . . .”
“I know . . .” ,Jesus said. “You know We can’t be in the presence of sin. We are holy by essence!”
I’ll do it Father because we love them so much! Then they can live with us forever!”
The Spirit said, “Then it’s settled . . . we’ll create people and give them the ability to choose to love or reject Us. And because we know they won’t be able to be perfect, we’ll make a way for them to live forever with Us . . . even though it will cost Us everything.”
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters . . . Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them . . . God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good!”
