This is a book by two guys who spent five months being homeless to test their faith, help them relate to homeless people and see how the church would react to them. I haven’t read the book yet, but I will.
I have heard Mike Yankoski talk about the experience (See link Below).

He has a message every Christian should hear. It’s easy to make people feel guilty about the homeless, but that’s not what this is about. He gives some real insight into our purpose as Christians.
