To my Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
The double quartet I’m putting together got a van and we sang about 10 of the 14 hour trip to Springfield, Missouri. After Springfield we went to St. Louis. We arrived in Paducah, KY around 3 in the afternoon and helped with their fish fry, did karaoke. We did a practice run for the flag presentation and now I’m here at my host home until tomorrow morning. After the fish fry we went back to our host homes until church the next day. We did a flag presentation, presented 55 flags of different nations, to the congregation in Lone Oak. After the AIM presentation we dismissed services and had a potluck. We fellowshipped together and served the church during this potluck. After the potluck we went back with our host families, I joined in a small group where we discussed how to be a wise steward in a consumer-based economy. We came back together and met in the teen room for a devotional, and then we had a pizza party. As a special surprise, we were told we’re going to a ‘haunted house’ project put on by some of the local college students. The next two days were very similar; we met at the church building for a devotional and classes to help remind us of our workmanship and our purpose. We would then break for lunch. Monday after lunch we went to Garden of the gods, a natural rock park, and on Tuesday we did community service projects: Cleaning up the side of a highway, rearranging their benevolence rooms, clean up the church building and cleaning the bus they were letting us use. We would then come back to the church building have dinner and a devotional. Tuesday the church fixed us a fancy brisket dinner and following we had a ‘fashion show’, some of the AIMers dressed up in some of the most outrageous clothes from the benevolence room. We sang a little more after that and then went to our host homes. We had to get up at 5 to leave for Mt. Carmel, IL at 6. We did a flag presentation at the high school there, because it was a secular school we didn’t mention religion, but talked about AIM from a philanthropitical view. We worked with the church there who had a pig roast and special devotional for an outreach. We did a flag presentation and lead their Wednesday night service. We went to host homes and woke up the next morning at 6 to leave for Harding University, in Searcy, AK. We arrived there at 7 p.m. at participated in the World Missions Workshop; the theme was ‘If you say go!’. We left Saturday around 1 for Longview, TX. We spent time there with the youth group, went to our host homes, and then on Sunday encouraged the church there. Leaving at 2 p.m. We headed back for Lubbock. We stopped in Dallas for lunch, in Abilene for supper, and finally arrived in Lubbock 11 p.m.! We had chapel and new classes the next day and that began at 8:20 a.m.
My new classes are Romans, Acts, Spiritual Nurturing/Disciplines, and the New Testament Church. As you can see it’s been very busy the past two weeks and it wouldn’t be possible without your prayers and support. I’m GREATLY appreciative of all that you do for me and pray the Lord will bless and keep you!
AIMing for Christ,
Iain Lee
